“My name is Natasha Wijesooriya , I work at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. I typically work in a surgical ICU, but for the past six weeks I’ve been in a covid cohort ICU. “Ive been an ICU nurse for 8 years, and I’ve learned so much during that short time. As a nurse, I’ve discovered that people are kind and strong even during situations that seem unimaginable . I’ve learned that caring for patients and families takes different forms, but that when done sincerely it’s invaluable. Over the past 6 weeks, working with Covid, i have felt sad, overwhelmed, angry, lonely, but strangely fortunate to be a nurse.”
